Hi All!!

The Godbehere Family Reunion for this year, 2010, has been canceled. I know this is sad as many people come every year! The Godbehere Family Reunion newsletter has been mailed to all current addresses that we have on file. There is a survey in with the newsletter that I hope you will all fill out and return. Jeanie Hogg had done such a fantastic job keeping up with everyone. Addresses were always up to date and information was always given for the newsletter. She is sadly missed. So with that being said WE EXPECT AND HOPE TO SEE EVERYONE IN 2011! 

I am sure that many of you have questions and I am sure that many of you want to know how YOU can help. We have some ideas about that and hope that you will contact us with your ideas and contributions. 

First: We will be starting up a committee to fill Jeanie's shoes! This will allow for multiple sides of the family to be heard and to help. Don't worry if you live far away... you can still help and be part of the Godbehere Family Reunion.

Second: We will be asking that you all help us with keeping your addresses updated. As well as asking for your help in giving information to us for births, deaths, marriages, and military service. This is something that Jeanie loved to see on the Newsletter. I loved seeing it, as I am sure most of you did as well.

Third: We will be working really hard on getting to know all of you. I know that sometimes when you come to a reunion you aren't sure how everyone fits together. You are not alone, others probably feel this was too. So we will be working hard on family trees and our family history so that we might all know where each other fit into the family! 

Fourth: We will be setting up another Godbehere Family Reunion blog that will be made private so that any information regarding our families can remain private to the outside world. All of those who would like to be invited will be invited (e-mail addresses will be necessary). This will be a place where we can let other family members know of births, deaths, marriages, and military service through out the year and not just on the newsletter (don't worry all of this info will still be on the newsletter). This is also a place where we can spotlight families so that we might get to know each other better. 

That is it for now, please share this blog and information with all that you can so that we might get this information to everyone.

Finally Posting Again!!

Hi all! I'm sorry it took me so long to get back on the blog. After the Godbehere Family Reunion I had finals and graduation from Glendale Community College to worry about and then I got a new full time job. I've been adjusting to my new schedule and getting the kids back to school. But I'm ready to look forward towards next year's reunion. I will be forming a committee to help me with the specifics and to make some of the decisions that need to be made. I am hoping for a meeting in Sept. If you live in the Phx area and would like to come please let me know. I've been reading the information sheets that were filled out at the reunion. They are very helpful and I really appreciate everyone's support at the last reunion. I know my grandmother was smiling down at our determination to continue on without her.

Some of the "getting to know you" papers were really cute, so I thought we would play a little game. I'll put some information from a couple of the surveys and you can all try to guess who the people are.

1. Female, Married, 4 children, 4 siblings, occupation: jackass farmer.

2. Male, married, 8 children, 2 siblings, Occupation: RN Something funny: "Thought I was done having kids, and here comes more!!"

3. Male, not married, kids?: "The world is not ready for little ________s", 2 siblings, occupation: network security engineer, Something funny: "Not at liberty to disclose as it is a condition of my parole agreement"

I'll let you chew on those for a while. I'll probably add some more next time I write. Thanks for being patient with me, and be sure to start thinking about coming to the reunion next year!

Help Wanted!

Here's a quick picture of me, so you can put a face with the name.

The time of the reunion is quickly approaching. I want to thank Gina and her family for once again being willing to be in charge of the children's games. We will also be trying to put together a game for the adults to play as well, with prizes.

This year I would really like to focus on getting to know each other more. Would someone be willing to make up a questionaire that we can each fill out at the reunion, it will need to have email and phone numbers on it too? Also I need a comment box made with surveys asking questions like how often would you like the reunion, etc. I will need someone to sit with the guest book and get to know you papers, to make sure everyone fills one out. I need people willing to help with organizing the food. I need people willing to sell the raffle tickets as well. And as always...I need lots of people to contribute to the raffle. So far I only know of three items, we will definately need more. If you can help in any way, please call me, email, or leave a comment. Give me your email or contact info, so I can get ahold of you.

Thanks for all your letters and phone calls of support. They really mean alot to me, as I know they meant alot to my grandmother in the past.

Hi all! I am so excited to announce that the Godbehere Family History book I told you about is all done and ready to be ordered!! My sister, Tiffany Hogg Pankau, is studying to be a genealogist and took a class on writing family histories. At grandma's (Jeanie's) encouragement, she wrote her course paper on three generations of the Godbeheres . Thanks to several family members, and lots of hard work, she made it into a beautiful book with lots of pictures and documents. You can click the link to preview the first 15 pages. You can then order either a softcover or hardcover book. I will be putting one of each into the raffle and then I plan on having two more to sell at the reunion. I will also allow people to order and pay for the book at the reunion and I will have it sent right to your home if you are not comfortable enough with the Internet to order one yourself. Please Don't Be Mad at the New Girl!!

I have finally finished the newsletter for this year! I will be really surprised if I have all the information correct! I gathered what information I could, I still feel like people where probably left out. To avoid this for next time, I will need everyone's help. I will need email addresses and phone numbers so I can contact more people for the next newsletter. If you will be at the reunion we will have a place for you to fill out that information, if you won't be at the reunion, please email me at godbeherefamilyreunion@gmail.com with your name, current address, email address, and phone number. Please bear with me as I learn how to do this better. If you have any suggestions or ideas, please let me know. Also, if you know of someone who didn't get a family newsletter, but should have...please email or call me (my phone number is on the newsletter). There are some people on grandma's lists that she no longer has addresses for and I don't know who they belong to. So please help me make sure everyone you know got a letter.
